Recycling
We
want to remind citizens that participation is the first and most
important step in the recycling process. Saving and
re-using are not new concepts. Earlier generations of
Americans were thrifty and knew them well. You can take
pride in knowing that, by recycling, you are making a better,
cleaner world for people today and for future generations.
In our community effort to conserve natural resources and
protect the environment, we are pleased to have Waste
Management as our partner. With your assistance and
their partnership, we can maximize our efforts to protect the
environment. Remember the four R's: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
and Recover.
Any questions
about the new recycling program should be directed to the Metro
Waste Authority at 244-0021. We also encourage you to go
to "Think
Green" the Waste Management website to learn more about
recycling.
Renewable
Energy Sources
The
City of Carlisle operates a municipal electric distribution
system that serves approximately 1,400 customers.
10% of the electricity purchased by the city comes from
wind generation.
Energy Conservation
We encourage the use of high-efficiency space and water heating
equipment, central air conditioning and other measures in both
residential and commercial buildings. The installation of new
energy-efficient equipment will save you money on your energy
bills, can make your home or business more comfortable, and also
can help reduce the demand on the natural resources needed to
produce energy.
See "Save
Some Green" a program for MidAmerican Energy electric
and gas customers that offers bonus
incentives for customers installing efficient heating and
cooling systems that meet specific requirements for equipment
sizing, air flow and refrigerant charge.
"DON'T
BURN IT, BAG IT"
The
first day of fall is right around the corner and the scent of
burning leaves is already on our minds. Most people can't
imagine fall without the scent of burning leaves, however most
people are not aware of the harmful effects of burning.
Please
visit the YARD WASTE page and
consider using an alternative method of disposal or recycling
yard waste.
Hubbell
Conservation Community
Building
For A better Tomorrow
We
believe that nature knows best. Hubbell Conservation
Communities have been created to minimize the impact of the
development process on the environment's natural systems.
It starts with ten times the amount
of open space offered by traditional new home communities, and
continues through every aspect of the building process.
Areas affected in construction will be re-landscaped and planted
with all-native vegetation. Natural storm management
systems will be identified and supported.
